Chronic Fatigue & HBOT

Chronic Fatigue & HBOT

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that approximately one million individuals in the United States suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), with global estimates ranging between 17 and 24 million affected individuals. CFS is a complex, multifaceted condition marked by persistent fatigue that extends for six months or longer, which cannot be fully accounted for by any underlying medical condition. This profound state of fatigue significantly hinders an individual's ability to perform everyday activities both at home and in the workplace, and it is not alleviated by rest or sleep.

In addition to overwhelming fatigue, CFS manifests a range of other symptoms, including but not limited to persistent headaches, disrupted sleep patterns, cognitive impairments, and muscle pain. Engaging in ordinary physical activities can exacerbate these symptoms, leading to a phenomenon known as post-exertional malaise, where patients experience a marked worsening of their condition following physical exertion.

The intensity of CFS symptoms can greatly vary from one person to another, contributing to the complexity of the condition. As of now, there is no known cure for chronic fatigue syndrome, with current treatment strategies primarily aimed at symptom management and improving the quality of life for those affected.
