Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Benefits

How it works

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy creates an environment with 2x/3x times normal elevated pressure and circulating oxygen concentration in order to increase the amount of oxygen delivered to the blood.

  • FUNCTIONOur Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber uses pressure and, when applicable, infused oxygen to optimize oxygen delivery & deliver 50% to 700% more oxygen to your blood as you breathe, effectively enhancing cellular function and promoting faster recovery.
  • EXPERIENCEThe pressurization process is similar to a diving experience, requiring users to equalize their ears during the session. Once full pressure is reached, the experience is quite comforting, relaxing, and cocooning, providing a tranquil environment for rest and rejuvenation.
  • DESCRIPTIONWe offer three different chamber options to suit various needs. Our largest chamber provides the possibility of fitting up to two people, allowing users to either sit or lie down based on their comfort preference.
  • DURATION15min–2h (1h recommended)

Designed to complement this therapy:

Full Body Red Light Therapy: After your HBOT session, we recommend following with a Full Body Red Light Therapy treatment. Once your blood is highly enriched with oxygen, red light helps that oxygen flow smoothly throughout the body while boosting ATP (cellular energy) production. This combination enhances recovery, circulation, and overall energy output — creating one of the most effective pairings for healing and performance at ReEnergized.

I recently tried their hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy, and I was honestly surprised at how refreshed and clear-headed I felt afterward. It's like my body hit the reset button.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Treatment

Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) safe?
Yes. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatment is a safe, non-invasive oxygen therapy used worldwide and supported by the Hyperbaric Medical Society. During hyperbaric oxygen therapy, you relax inside a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber or hyperbaric chamber where you breathe pure oxygen in a pressurized environment with higher air pressure than normal air pressure. The most common sensation is mild ear pressure or ear pain caused by pressure changes, similar to flying or scuba diving, which can usually be relieved by swallowing or chewing gum to protect the middle ear and prevent middle ear injuries.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions depends on your treatment plan, goals, and medical conditions. Some patient cases require several sessions, while others may benefit from ongoing therapy. At ReEnergized in Long Beach, our healthcare provider team performs a thorough evaluation and comprehensive evaluation to determine how many sessions are appropriate, especially for chronic wounds, non healing wounds, injured tissues, or recovery-focused care where more oxygen and extra oxygen are needed to support healing.
Are there any side effects?
Most people experience no side effects from hyperbaric oxygen therapy. In rare cases, some patients may experience mild fatigue, temporary dizziness, ear pressure, or ear pain related to air pressure adjustments in the chamber. Very uncommon risks include oxygen poisoning or low blood sugar, which are monitored closely. Our providers carefully regulate oxygen required, pressure, and session duration to ensure enough oxygen is delivered safely without causing tissue damage.
Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy beneficial after surgery?
Absolutely. Hyperbaric oxygen helps support wound healing by increasing blood supply, improving blood vessels, and stimulating vascular endothelial growth factor, which promotes new blood vessels and stem cells. HBOT is often used after surgery to reduce inflammation, support skin flaps, prevent tissue death, and improve healing in injured tissues. In some cases, pre-surgical sessions are recommended to optimize oxygen delivery and prepare tissues before radiation therapy, surgery, or recovery from crush injury.
How soon will I notice results?
Many patients report feeling more energized, focused, and clear-headed after just one or two hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions. For conditions such as chronic refractory osteomyelitis, radiation injuries, radiation cystitis, nonhealing wounds, skin infections, gas gangrene, or tissue damage, noticeable improvements often occur over several sessions. Consistency allows oxygen to reach tissues, support white blood cells, and enhance healing where blood supply has been compromised.
Who should avoid Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is safe for many patients, but it may not be appropriate for those with untreated lung disease, lung collapse, pneumothorax, severe cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, uncontrolled ear or sinus conditions, or recent middle ear injuries. Individuals with gas embolism, decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, or radiation injuries should always consult their healthcare provider before treatment. A comprehensive evaluation ensures safety and effective treatment selection.
What should I wear during my session?
We recommend loose, comfortable clothing or a hospital gown depending on the hyperbaric chamber used. Please remove jewelry, electronic devices, and restrictive items before entering the chamber. Some patients bring socks or light layers, and chewing gum is often helpful for managing ear pressure during pressure changes inside the pressurized chamber.
Can I use my phone inside the chamber?
No. For safety reasons, electronic devices are not permitted inside the hyperbaric chamber due to the pure oxygen and pressurized environment. Instead, many patients choose to rest, meditate, read, watch TV through approved systems, or simply relax. Sessions typically last about two hours, making it an ideal time for recovery and mental reset.
Can I sit inside the chamber?
Yes. At ReEnergized, we offer special chamber options including monoplace chamber and multiplace chamber settings. Some chambers allow more than one person, while others are designed for individual comfort. Clients may sit upright or recline comfortably, which is especially beneficial for those who feel claustrophobic or are recovering from procedures such as tummy tucks, wounds, nonhealing wounds, or radiation therapy.
